Ancestry Chapter 16

1896-1897 - Norek and Tybus Children, More Births, Another Death

Anton Norek born 1896, Chicago, Illinois

Anton Norek was born on April 15, 1896, two days before his mother's 39th birthday.

He will become a favorite brother to more than one, and start in the tool & die making field like his father.

His brother Steve is only 1 year, 3 ½ months older.  Helena and Michael Norek now have five children under the age of 8.  Anton will grow to be a confident, bright and care-free young man.  Anton's story is also told later.

Left.  1986 record of the birth and christening of Anton Norek.  Born on April 15th and christened Antonium Petrum (Anton Peter) on April 26th.

Seen on the record was an error of putting “Petrum” first, and then a line showing it is the middle name.

Anton’s godparents are Johann and Anna Boelmlein, who are also godparents to his older sister Mary Norek.

Theophil. Tybus born 1896, Dirschau, died 1897, Pr. Stargard, West Prussia

Theophil. Tybus was born in May of 1896.  He is Augusta and Michael Tybus' fifth son and eighth child.  Theophil. is born just a month after his cousin Anton is born to his Aunt Helena in Chicago.  Do the letters pass in the mail?

The Catholic Church records of Pr. Stargard register the death of Theopil. Tybus on January 11, 1897 at the age of 8 months.

The death records lists his father, Michael Tybus, so I presume Michael took baby Theophil. to Pr. Stargard for medical treatment.

Alfons is now 10, Antonia 8, Anna 6, and the younger brother is 2.  Alfons later tells stories about "keeping the babies warm"  --  was 1896-1897 an extreme winter in Eastern Europe?  Is it this winter, the winter they lost the youngest baby that he recalled?

Michael and Augusta Tibus now have lost four of their eight children in infancy.  Of the four surviving children, two will be lost to Chicago.
