Ancestry Chapter 25 1908 -
The Marriage of Michael Norek and Antonia Tibus
Antonia Tibus and Michael Norek marry, 1908, Chicago, IllinoisAntonia and Michael married in June 13, 1908. They were married by insertthis but apparently not at St. Paul's church in Chicago, the parish of their residence.
Cook County marriage certificate with the June 13th date and St. Paul’s marriage records, pages 112 and 113, dates February 26th to June 17th, with no listing of a marriage at that church. Antonia is listed as age 20. She is 19 ½. Michael is correctly listed as 43. He is 43 ½. Family legend (several sources) that this marriage required a special Church dispensation from the Catholic Church was confirmed to the extent that yes, the aunt/niece relationship between Helena and Antonia necessitated a dispensation. I tried to obtain a copy but was informed that dispensation records are never open to anyone, for any purpose. Antonia and Michael are expecting their first child, who will be born in October. There are no wedding photos that I know of. There were no any anniversary celebrations. It seems that (outside of my Dad, and I am certain he knew but he never told) no one in the second batch knew of these circumstances. I am certain everyone of the first batch did. Antonia's cousins, namely the five surviving children of Michael and Helena, now become her stepchildren. Lucy is 19 ½, Cecilia 17 ½, Stephen 12 ½, Anton 11 ½, and Anna 10 ½. This second marriage of Michael Norek to a member of the Tybus family takes place exactly 20 years and 1 month after his first. The first child of each marriage was born on the following October 18th.
