(click document to see details)
The 1910
Census
The Norek
family now lives at 2144 W. 23rd Place. The family name is misspelled as
"Nowak" but it is undoubtedly them, recorded on the 25th day of April, 1920.
There is
"Mike" at age 43, marriage #2. He is an "ingeneer, machines" which presumably
means tool and die maker. Antonie at age 22, marriage #1. They are listed as
married 2 years. Immigration in 1888 (wrong -- 1892 for Michael, and 1904 for
Antonia.)
Antonia is
from Germany - Prussia. Michael is listed as something else -- Germ. Bohess__?
(Curious, because Michael and Antonia were born in the same place, just a few
miles apart. Even if the question is ambiguous -- what it was then or what it
is now -- certainly they would have answered same.)
Cecilia is
20, and she is now listed as being born in Illinois (wrong -- West Prussia).
Anton is 14, Anna is 11, Mike Jr. is 1, and Stephen is 16 and listed as employed
as a "helper."
Everyone in
the family can speak English. (Antonia did not permit German to be spoken to
the children at home. But even when Helena and Michael did speak German to
their children, I presume everyone could speak, read and write in English.)
Michael Norek
is not yet naturalized. They are not citizens.
