Ancestry Chapter 32 1912-1913 - Antonia’s Return to West Prussia, Part 2
The Return Part 2 - Michael Norek's Passport Application, December 23, 1912
The passport
application says he is applying for himself, and would be accompanied by his
wife Antonia (got her name right this time) and children Michael and Josephine
(right children but their dates of birth are very wrong, plus the wife and
children left two months ago).
Michael Norek's passport application. {Form for Naturalized Citizen.] The passport application says he was: Born at Preuss. Stargard 26 Sept. 1864 (correct), Immigrated on the ship Gera from Hamburg on 20th day of May, 1892 (correct, except one day off), Resided in Chicago from 1892 to 1912 (correct), Naturalized on 7 Oct. 1910 (correct), Was an engineer (apparently an apt description then), and
Was about to go abroad, returning in 12 months (he was about to go abroad, but
again wife and children already there, and this was not going to be any 12 month
pleasure trip). His description.
Someone else filled out that application. That is why the children's birth dates are wrong -- they did not realize that question would be asked, so whoever this tall guy was, he did not know the answers so just took wild guesses. Michael Norek was in a hurry, or for some other reason he sent someone else down to apply for this passport. It’s the day before Christmas Eve, and Michael leaves the day after Christmas.
