Ancestry Chapter 35 1912-1913 - Antonia’s Return to West Prussia, Part 6 (Do We Have a Match?)
The Return Part 6 – Do We Have a Match? Compare the second "family" photograph from the West Prussian trip, the one believed to be of Michael Norek's family, with the "hubby" and "daughter" photos below. If we have a match – if the woman back row, second from the right on our photo is the same as woman seen in the "aunt & hubby" photo, then we have identified one of Michael Norek's relatives (and that person's wife and children, to an extent). This relative of Michael Norek would be the husband in the "hubby" photo. His name is Walter Norek. He might also be the guy at the far right of the photograph. This and the other photos are posted on someone else's (the Slack) genealogy, and they are guessing that the wife is their grandfather's aunt. Translation from the other's genealogy regarding the "hubby" husband and wife photo: "TRANSLATION: ‘Wojciech and Kunegunda NOREK’ Wojchiech is pronounced Voyceeh which is translated as Walter. Kunegunda is a very old name and there is no translation for this name."
Upon request, here is a double
scan showing the two photos together. These photos are approaching an age of 100 years. Will they lead anywhere? If finding this photograph of Wojchiech and Kunegunda Norek seems to coincidental, let me say --
I have stacks and stacks of material,
To the left and right are postcard
photos believed to be Wojciech & Kunegunda Norek's daughters. If we have a
match, they are the two girls on the left in our photo. Comparing tell-tale features such as ears and eyebrows, I see nothing that would exclude the gals in these later photos from being the girls in our photo.
Poznan, also known as Posen, which is identified on
the right postcard, is a region just south of West Prussia, or the Pommerelia
region, where Michael Norek,
and Helena, and Antonia, were born and raised.
Posen is clearly marked on the map
to the right, I have attempted to contact the person who put up the Slack genealogy about these photos, without success. They probably have no further information, but at least I could ask their permission to reprint these photos. That website can be readily found by searching on "genealogy slack norek".
