Ancestry Chapter 36 1913 - Another Marriage, More Norek Children
Cecilia Norek Marries Mathias, 1913, Chicago On April 16, 1913, Cecilia Norek 22 marries Mathias (Matt), 21, a professional photographer. (Matt probably took lots of the photos on this website.)
Cecelia and Matt at photo right. A brother of Matt is standing far left. Lucy is seated center. Anna Norek, the younger dark-haired girl, is seated on the floor. The little boy leaning against the fireplace on the left is Michael Norek Jr. He is now 5 ˝. Has the same distinctive hair cut. Summer Picnic, 1913. Matt probably took the photograph. It is marked as the Saingers picnic, June 1913. Standing photo left is first Antonia. She is pregnant with her third child (Uncle Father Pete). Next to her is Michael Norek, holding Josephine, with Michael Jr. standing just in front of him. Second from the left is Lucy, who is holding Cecelia's arm. Front, seated, center is Anton Norek. He is 17. Photograph left is Anna. Photograph right is Cecilia. The other gals on the photograph, on either side of Lucy, are not family. Must just be friends.
More 1913 Photographs Left photograph. Anton alone with a bike. Right photograph. Anton with his Dad, Michael Norek, with bikes. Perched on the handle bars is Michael Jr. Michael Jr. is seen in the same hat worn in the picnic photo above, but Dad is not.
Photo below o Same hats. Mike Jr.'s hat is now laying on the ground.
Peter Norek (Uncle Father Pete) was born to Antonia and Michael Norek on October 19, 1913 and christened Peter Mathias. He is their third child and (unless he was very premature, which I think not) he was conceived in West Prussia. Peter's Godfather is the newest son-in-law, Cecelia's husband Matt.
Random connections. Antonia back in West Prussia. Michael Sr. fetching her back. Peter joining the priesthood. Peter conceived in West Prussia. Family legend has it that Michael Norek promised to "give" one of his children to God if a special request was granted. (Story of promise from several sources.) Does it fit? Was the special request that Antonia would return from West Prussia? Or was it something else? We will never know.
