1915-1917 - More Children, More Grandchildren
Gertrude
Norek born 1915, Chicago
Antonia and Michael's fourth child, second daughter, Gertrude was born on November 27, 1915. She was christened Gertrude Cecilia on December 5th, and her godparents were her older brother and sister, Steve and Cecelia. The family residence is 2144 W. 23rd Place.

Gertrude is the person who should have written this story. Her photographs jump-started the West Prussian side of this story. The studio photo from Dirschau, the later photo of Antonia's sister Anna, the military composite, Antonia's christening cards, the military photo of Michael Tibus and more.
And Gertrude located her parent's June 13, 1908 marriage certificate. The significance of the date would have been immediately apparent to her. Before she ordered the search she would have estimated the wedding date from her brother Michael's birth date. Did Aunt Gert stop writing the genealogy, and never mention what she had found?
Ralph born, 1916
Cecilia and Matt 's second child, Ralph, was born in 1916.
Michael Norek now has five grandchildren age 6 and under, and four second-batch children age 8 and under.
1917. The U.S. enters WWI.. (Yes, WWI went on for three years before we entered.)

Steve Norek served in the armed forces during World War I. He worked as an aviation machine mechanic in the south of England.
Dorothy Norek
born 1917, Chicago
Antonia and Michael's fifth child, and third daughter, Dorothy was born on November 3, 1917.
It will be Dorothy who, in her 70's and 80's, will repeatedly drive hundreds of miles from her home way up in Wisconsin down to Chicago for her family. She will be a very genuine person, and special aunt, throughout her lifetime.
Marion and Marion born, 1917
Lucy and Leo's fourth child, Marion, was born in 1917. Cecilia and Matt 's third child, Marion, was born on December 25th, 1917. (Two Marion's --a story here or my misspelling?)
Michael Norek now has seven grandchildren, four surviving first-batch children, and five second-batch children. His grandchildren and second-batch children are growing up together.
