Ancestry Chapter 44

1924-1928  More Children and Grandchildren

Harold born 1925, Chicago

Lucy and Leo's fifth, and last, child Harold was bon in 1925.

A birthday party.  (Poor repro because I scanned from a photocopy, not from the photo.)

All the girls in party hats and leas.  I believe first-batch granddaughter Helen top right, and second-batch daughter Josephine two straight down from Helen.  Other second-batch daughters include Gert (right, lowest standing), Ruth (sitting on step with presumably baby Tom Norek beside her) and guessing Dolores is just below top standing on the far left.

Date about 1925.  It is possible that all the girls are Michael Norek's daughters and granddaughters.

Just take out the hats and you have a party!

Photograph belongs to Gertrude’s family.

Right photo.  Michael Jr. in some weird outfit, possibly a scouts uniform?

Whatever.  It is marked "about 1925" and if that is correct, Mike is 17 on this photo.

George Norek born 1926, Chicago

Antonia and Michael Norek's ninth, and last, child George is born on February 17, 1926.  Antonia is 37˝.  Michael is 61˝.

Antonia later said that she had cried when she learned of this pregnancy.  There were eight children already, and they just could not afford another one.  And then George turned out to be such a nice person -- no regrets -- sometimes life works out that way.

The Norek's loved to dance.  This photograph is marked 1926 at Deer Park, which was the family's summer place.  That is Cecelia dancing with Bernice.  Young Peter in the tank suit, having some problem with it.  Michael Jr. front, far left, doing a funny imitation of the dancers.

Behind Michael Jr. is a gal and baby marked "new Mom" which might be Antonia with baby George.

 Eileen born 1928, Chicago

Cecilia and Matt's sixth, and last, child Eileen is born in 1928.

Steve’s wife Ruth is her Godmother.  Michael Jr., then 20 or 19˝, is her Godfather, and Eileen recalls that for many years she considered her Uncle Mike a rather old person.

 .

Michael Jr. throwing a football.  More precisely, posing as if he is about to throw a football.

Guessing about 1928.  About the time he became Eileen's godfather, and yes he was rather old from a younger point of view.

Eileen's Uncle Mike probably seemed so old because her Uncle George or her Uncle Tom are only a few years older than she is.

Raymond born 1928, Chicago

Anna and Joe's third child, Raymond, is born in 1928.
